Over the years we've found that a lot of people sell appliances and some of them pretty cheap too. However, like anything else, it's hard to not feel like you're just another cow in the herd to some of these places. It is a very competitive business and we like BASCO because of the way our clients have always been treated over the years, plus you actually experience service during and after the sale. Dave Garner has been there many, many years which accounts for his vast knowledge of the past, present and wide variety of models to choose from. We would suggest before making a trip down to the showroom, you give him a call first and set up an appointment. Nice showroom! As a current or past client of ours, he knows to quote you our price…if there's any question just have him give us a call.

Prior to the untimely passing of our lifelong good friend Dave Herren, Dave had introduced us to Robin Buckner & his company Interconnex. As a result we came to rely on the tandem talents of these two remarkable gentlemen. Both with an exceptional ear for sound, a thorough understanding of the vast array of equipment available and the soundness of mind to design and get you the customer what is best suited for YOU. While they collaborated on the design, Robin & his merry men became our trusted installation and setup team. Very much in The Golden Hammer way of doing things already…neat and tidy. Dedicated to finding your level of audiophileness and presenting the appropriate design/equipment combination; no more no less. They sell no equipment, but instead will refer you to a local shop that once again matches up best with your needs. Take a quick tour of their website for more details on their consulting, design & installation services. Very complete service from the simple to the mind boggling complex. You’ll like their philosophy.

ART FACTORS
Bobby & Marilyn Harris
7035 SW Macadam
Portland, OR 97219
503-245-3625 - gallery
503-245-0701 - fax
Located right on the corner down by the big Zupans store on Macadam. Lots of off street parking. Sir Robert (as I call him) has 25+ years in this business and it shows. Quality of the highest order. This is one of those warm & fuzzy experiences. You can trust your most valuable pieces to him. Rely on his experienced eye and his willingness to work with you until it's right to produce a piece you will display with great pride.
They also have on display (and for sale) pottery, ceramics, glass works and other items from local artisans. You can call for a private appointment or just wander in. You'll be made to feel right at home.
On a personal note, my wife and I have known Bobby & Marilyn for many years and have thoroughly enjoyed their friendship and terrific family with 3 girls. Never a dull moment in the Harris household. They are accomplished dancers of a variety of disciplines and through their involvement in teaching dance were very instrumental in our participation in ballroom dance. They are truly outstanding people and certainly worthy of your trust.
This may seem a bit strange but you'd be surprised how often the questions come up regarding certain needs of ones automobile. Much of it may stem from peoples knowledge of my involvement with street rods and show cars; not to mention being a confirmed motorsports nut. So, we have just a couple of names for you in this area. However, as most of you know, I am acquainted with a good number of people in the auto related world in this town…so feel free to give me a call for a referral on a specific anything auto related…or of course racing related. These guys listed below are low key, hard to find if you don't know them and are really the absolute standard for their individual areas of expertise. What they produce or the service they provide is the same type and quality of work you go to the rod & custom shows to look at.
CCR INC. COLLISON REPAIR

Denny Cunningham- Owner

503-663-3418-fax
First rate work, whether it be custom related or just the standard old accident damage repair. They are great at working with the insurance companies for you and are willing to guide you through that maze. We’ve personally had them work on our private vehicles and work trucks. Timely and it’s right the first time. Yes, we know it’s a bit of a hike to Boring, even for us. But it’s worth the trip to avoid the headache.
JEFF’S CUSTOM DETAILING
Jeff Olson – owner
503-658-5423
Jeff is the quintessential auto detailer. None better in town. We’ve known Jeff for many, many years on both a personal and business level. Our vehicles are in to him every 6 months minimum, to keep them in top shape. Others can talk about attention to detail, but Jeff delivers. He has an incredible eye to go along with his many years of experience. A nicer man you won’t find anywhere.
BILL BELL’S QUALITY AUTOMOTIVE
Bill Bell – owner
503-233-5873 – office/shop
503-233-5216 – fax
In the world of auto repair the stories of rip offs and shoddy work are as legendary as they come and our guess is that most people have had this experience. If you have a really qualified and trustworthy shop for your auto repair needs, terrific, stay with them. If on the other hand, you find yourself dreading what lies before you when the trusty steed falters and needs attention, you can relax and give Bill or Alec a call. Everybody on our crew does and several of our sub contractors as well. Honest and trustworthy. Up to speed on the latest technology and the equipment to address it. Timely turn around on repairs & service. Another case of done correctly the first time.
A+ Carpet Cleaning
Mike Honkanen
503-314-7453
Aplusqualitycleaning.net
We were at a loss for a reliable recommendation (and for some time) after our good friend and great carpet cleaner, Sam Lowder/Island Carpet Services, retired. Yet as things happen so often, a long time trusted client came through with a referral to Mike Honkanen and his company A+ Carpet Cleaning.
We’ve now had the opportunity to watch him in action and certainly appreciate what we see. From the moment you meet him you’ll be impressed, as we were, at his neat appearance and that seemingly constant smile. It just goes along with his attention to detail, no nonsense approach to getting the job done and so very thorough.
Mike’s idea and philosophy about treating your home like his own, with the goal of getting it done right the fist time, fits so well with our own approach to all our projects. You will find Mike prompt, polite and so very courteous…plus good work…a great combination that should put your mind at ease.
One last thing: He received the Angie’s List Super Service Award for 2006 & 2007. Check out some of the testimonials on the Angie’s List website.

If you are like us we appreciate a bright techie-type that will talk to you in terms that resemble something you understand. People that will assemble and configure you a system that meets your needs and not those of some techno-whiz. Look no further…and we mean it!
You may already have someone that's doing just fine for you and that's great. But if you don't and are hesitant about starting the search…wait no more. We had experienced a fair amount of competency before meeting The Drykes, however, this was different. This was soooo comfortable. They listen so well to assess your needs and then don't overwhelm you with stuff you don't need. Ever run into all that extraneous stuff and don't know why it's there or what to do with it? Us too. Called Drykes. Problem solved.
They have steadily brought us along as needed in both hardware and software. They've networked us, handled emergencies (mostly my dumb mistakes…as Chuck would ask: You been pushing buttons until it starts smoking again?), graciously guided us through a slow learning curve for new software (boy do they know software) and the Internet…oh yeah, the Internet…they made that whole experience so simple and easy. People around us think we're so technically advanced. Ha! If only they knew the truth about why it appears that way. They have assisted us in becoming very comfortable with technology and pretty much eradicated our fears about new advancements.

Norman and his wife Joanna came to us first as remodeling clients. They were wonderful to work with, especially in light of the size and complexity of their project; which turned out beautifully (as though you would be surprised by that). In the process we discover that Norman is quite the expert with Macintosh, Windows and Unix computer systems. He has some 30 years experience with computers and holds a degree in computer science. Thusly, he can do consulting work on almost any sort of computer problem. Need help upgrading, installing, troubleshooting or networking your home or business computer? Norman can help!
You will find he is especially well-versed about Macintosh and the whole Apple line of products (right down to the last bite :). He is refreshingly, not a rabid proponent of any particular system, though he himself may favor one. He can size up your need and tailor something to fit.
EASYSTREET ONLINE SERVICES
INTERNET SERVICE PROVIDER
(ISP)
Beaverton, OR
503-646-8400 - office
www.easystreet.com
You'll notice right away that we use Easystreet as our ISP and also to host this Website. Many reasons to like them: great service, 24 hr/day technical support, never any busy signals on a dial up service, never a technical glitch that prevents us from getting online or utilizing the tools of the Internet, monstrous auxiliary stand by power for uninterrupted service in the event of a power outage, etc. etc. But we also like them because they're local people that we've watched grow from their infancy as a startup; even before we had any intention of being 'online'. Besides, if we're going to spend our money, we'd prefer to spend it with local people. Of course it doesn't hurt that they spent a wad of dough with us by having The Golden Hammer install their first Kohler 400 KW fully automated back up generating system. Do you know if your current ISP has this feature?
They web-host and provide many other services for a good number of well known companies both inside and outside of the high tech electronics world.
Want DSL? They can check to see if it's available to at your location and assist you in getting it hooked up. They offer periodic seminars to help keep you up to speed on what's happening in their particular industry. Very informative. Not aimed over your head. Quite helpful.
Nice people. Go ahead, get brave, change is good, give them a call and be a part of keeping your money in the area and supporting one of our many well run local outfits.

Looking for something unique? Something to fit a particular space, a need or theme you just can not seem to locate? Tired of wasting time just to see the same sort of thing over and over? Look no further. Greg is an escapee from Carol Williamson & Associates, where he was the number 1 design person for Carol for many years. We were all sad when he finally made the move to follow his hearts desire…to design & build unique furniture pieces. However, he has provided us with an unmatched standard of quality and absolutely fabulous design sense. His work & references are impeccable. Personally, I think most people will be pleasantly surprised at the reasonable cost associated with this outstanding quality of work. If this sounds like a commercial for Greg…it is! By the way, Greg Miller and G. Scott Miller are not related.

Lake Oswego, OR 97035

lizmdesign@comcast.net
A little personal background on Liz before we launch into her tidy bio. We first met Liz as she began her 6 years with Chown Showcase and were immediately taken by her upbeat attitude, incredible knowledge and super efficiency. She treated our clients like royalty, always excited, listening so carefully to their desires and then executing on the details. We were a bit dismayed upon her departure into her own business, but we certainly understand and support her move.
You will find that Liz provides a very lively approach to her Interior Design. She feels it is essential to listen to her clients desires and let her designs reflect their personalities and lifestyles. As I mentioned, she is renowned for her attention to detail, product knowledge and the ability to supply skillfully prepared working drawings.
She graduated from Harrington Institute of Interior Design, Chicago, in 1989 with a 3 year Degree of Applied Science of Interior Design and Space Planning. While in college, she worked for International Kitchen and Bath Design utilizing her design and sales skills. After graduating, she continued working as a designer through two prominent showrooms in the Chicago area for 7 years.
After moving west, Liz joined the fabulous team at Chown Showcase in Portland, working as their on staff Designer. During her 6 exciting years with Chown she had the opportunity to design both the Chown/Portland and Chown/Bellevue, WA showrooms, as well as numerous residential projects.
Obviously, she now has her own growing company designing both residential and commercial spaces. This affords her the chance to be involved in and fulfill her love of a wide range of design styles. It will become quickly apparent that she loves what she does and is quite qualified at most all phases of Design and Space Planning. Her specialty: Kitchen and Bath Design. Working with Liz is always a rewarding experience.
NOTE: You will find none of the persons listed above is interested in putting 'Their Personal Stamp of Identification' on your project. This is in contrast to the many who feel it necessary the projects they work on are readily identifiable as their work. This will not be the case with those listed above. Their focus is tastefully and efficiently getting you what you want; what works best for you.

RED’S ELECTRIC
Jim Ferris - owner
6336 SE 102 Ave
Portland, OR 97266
503-233–6467 office
In the past couple of years, we’ve had a need due to some larger projects and considerable work in Washington, to search out an electrical company to meet those needs. We were aware of Red’s Electric and began to inquire of trustworthy sources regarding their profile, quality of work, available crew, etc. What we kept hearing were comments which indicated they would be a good source and fit for The Golden Hammer. We sat down with Jim Ferris the owner and came face to face with ourselves…well almost. An owner who was very active, enjoyed going to work everyday, had hand selected electricians and a most capable support staff, but perhaps most importantly of all, he identifies Integrity as the #1 ingredient in his formula for building and operating his business. They have certainly proved this to be true by their performance on each project with us.
So, you’ve got a light switch or plug not working? Have an electrical emergency? Red’s has the personnel to respond quickly to those emergencies. Our experience tells us you’ll find their electricians to be courteous, professional, considerate of you, your home and surroundings.
STEIN ELECTRIC
784-5054 - cell
Many of you know Scott Stein by having had him on your job; and as you also know he is a one man show. He is one of our most favorite and popular people. However, as a one man shop, we need to plan carefully to coordinate our schedule with his to get him on our job…and so will you. A more qualified & careful electrician would be hard to find. He can do the little stuff, the service updates, etc…and of course is fantastic as a regular team member on our projects…but remember about advance planning.

You'll love working with Kelley and her supporting cast of talented players. She has been well educated in her craft and continues to upgrade her knowledge of the constantly evolving world of faux finishes. They are capable of a wide variety of finishes & glazes on walls, ceilings and cabinetry. Her collaboration with other artists in her field gives her the ability to address most any project offered regardless of size or scope. James Brown may have been considered 'the hardest working man in show business', but these girls would give him a run for his title.

If you have a piece of furniture or other item you are looking to add a unique appearance to, you will be simply amazed at what the talented artisans at this company can do. If it's different and unusual that you seek you must make an appointment to see these folks. Much of their work is done in their shop, yet they will venture out to perform onsite work on cabinetry, walls, etc. They've been in this business as long as I can remember and are a favorite of both individuals and many designers…we're a fan too. Seems to be no end to the variety of their work.
There are several plumbing showrooms in the area for one to visit. However, for the most part, we direct our clients to Chown Hardware or A-Ball Plumbing. Our reasons are simple: great tradition of service, terrific selection of quality fixtures at both locations and truly qualified personnel to assist you.

Portland, OR 97209
503-228-0026 – store
503-228-0030 – fax
As with Chown Hardware, we find the interest in your particular need to be their focus. We love the ‘throw back’ sort of atmosphere of the store that begins with the door as you enter and the feel of the old floor under your feet. Then it’s those warm friendly smiles which greet you; along with 2 ears that are listening intently to what you have to say. A little slower paced environment with a totally comfortable feel.
High quality products, high quality service and with the added bonus of Sandy Frazier. This guy seems to have the answer for every odd ball plumbing question that might come up. A solutions oriented person for that situation that just doesn’t quite fit the norm. So eager and willing to take the time to get it figured out. If he doesn’t come with a solution, he may very well know where to point you. Really nice folks.
PREMIUM CUSTOM FURNITURE FINISHING
CRAIG ROBINSON
590-3504
This is the same finisher that Gregory Miller (above) uses for all his work. Judging from the work Craig has done for Greg and myself, I would have to say this is in fact Premium Quality Work of the very nicest order! Craig is interested in finishing only high quality pieces. No junk. He will refinish as well, but the same criteria still applies…No junk. If you're not sure about whether your piece qualifies, give him a call to find out for sure.

What a great experience! Experience that good old time hardware store feel. Show them want you want and then enjoy following them behind the counter down the isle to match up to what you have or come up with the solution to your hardware need. They've just recently moved to the lower east side at SE 3rd & Stark. Mid town and easy to get to from both sides of the river…that is unless the City of Portland decides to move a bridge or two along with the freeway. Great new place. You'll like it even better than the old place in downtown Portland.
If it's odd, a little unusual, hard to find or you just don't know where to begin to look… this is a good bet. We all love the place.
PARKROSE HARDWARE
10625 NE Sandy Blvd.
Portland, OR 97220
256-3103 - store
Another great hardware store. Super selection of nuts & bolts, including one of the larger arrays of stainless steel nuts, bolts, screws, washers, etc. Modern, well-lit, well stocked store with very friendly and knowledgeable people. Good tool selection.
WICHTA FEED & HARDWARE
6089 SE Johnson Creek Blvd.
Portland, OR 97206
775-6767 - store
775-2150 - fax
You're are gonna think you just took a step back in time as you enter the door; the door creaks and a little brass bell jingles. This place hasn't changed since I can remember and that's a good long time. Family owned, run and staffed. Feed, hay for you horse, nuts/bolts, shots for your cat, gardening stuff, bird food and I can't tell you all what is hangin' and stacked in that place…but they sure have what we need when we go in…or know where to get it. A real old time country type hardware store with wooden floors and all. Handwritten receipts on little pads with carbon paper…that's right, carbon paper! Heck, they even have our company account in those little books and just tear out the carbon copies and send them to us once a month…no statement! Just a bunch of those little copies, we add them up and send in the check…is this great or what? Can't believe they really have a fax line or machine, because there sure ain't no computers.

You want stainless steel nuts, bolts, washers, screws, threaded rod or other stainless fasteners? Look no further than Mt. Hood Fasteners. The best place for stainless steel one-stop shopping. From the very tiny, to the very large. You have to catch them during the week though; they're not there on the weekends at all.
FALK ACE HARDWARE
4285 SW Cedar Hills Blvd.
Beaverton, OR 97005
644-0121 - store
Another really good hardware store for those of you on the West Side (and there are a few of you). Once again, very helpful people, good selection of those little nuts, bolts and fastener things we always seem to be looking for.
OUR THOUGHTS ON HARDWARE STORES:
Our experience has been that these sorts of true hardware stores are going to have the typical things you would be looking for in areas of small house repairs, yard stuff, etc. The big boxes like Home Depot, Lowes will many times not have those little unusual things you're looking for. Besides they're SO BIG. Unless we know for sure that the bigger stores actually have what we're after, we always head for one of these other places first…besides we like that small business atmosphere. You may know of a good local hardware store in your neighborhood, let us know, we'd love to list them.

Many of you knew and loved good ol' Wilbur Montgomery who had for years done our hardwood flooring work. Well, retirement time came and we needed to find someone to fill those big shoes of Wilburs. About the time this happened, one of our very good clients (Don & Cindy Trelstad), recommended we give Paul Brandsen a call. We did and have been very pleased. Trelstad's were right, they fit in well with our operation and you should like them too. They are a family company with the kids very involved. Great to see this type of family cooperation and unity as a group. No slackers here. Most pleasant people and so nice to have on the job.
You may find that we end up being involved many times no matter what. Mostly, for the initial set-up prior to refinish (hanging visqueen, setting up curtain walls, etc. to protect other areas of the house) and after for the installation of base shoe or other related trim.
We're still searching on this one. Currently testing out a serious Golden Hammer type contender for this slot. It appears we will be adding them shortly. Stay tuned.
EASYSTREET ONLINE SERVICES
ACCENT LIGHTING GALLERIES
Bob or Lynne
699-9995 - store
lighting@accentlighting.com
If you're looking for that personal touch, something different than you seem to see at every lighting store you visit and would like someone who actually has more that 6 weeks in the lighting business…then this is the place. With over 20 years in the lighting business, Bob & Lynne have assembled a nice cozy store/gallery in Lake Grove where you will feel most comfortable and welcome. Tastefully unique fixtures displayed in the showroom, coupled with catalogs and quick access to items you won't readily find elsewhere make it a nice alternative to those other lighting 'superstores'. Be sure to call to let them know you are coming…they will actually schedule one on one time with you.
They have been a welcome addition to The Golden Hammer family since the closing of Lighting Specialties in Old Town.
ROGER KAADY CONSTRUCTION

503-730-6166 cell
masonrog@msn.com
In a segment of our industry filled with traditionally hot tempered, screaming and many times vile speaking persons…Roger is the refreshing exception. His work is as flawless as his character. Neat and tidy. Mild mannered and hard working; a nicer man you'd be hard pressed to find. Loves the new, interesting and different. Very versatile with a good working knowledge of other elements of construction and how they effect his work. Shows up on time and gets the job done, cleans up and gets gone.
He is a 3rd generation mason, who is also providing us with the next generation of fine craftsmen by passing along this knowledge/skill set to his 2 talented sons. They work with brick, stone, slate, pre-cast concrete. Can make those repairs you need or rebuild it like new or just build it new from start to finish. This is the absolute no mistake call. Their work, is the type of which, people will marvel at generations from now.
V.I.N. CONSTRUCTION
VESKO NENCHEV
503-997-3028 – cell
Water challenges in the yard, under the house, in the basement, around the house or need excavation work performed but no room for power equipment? Give Vesko a call. They can handle such things as French drains, roof drains, yard drainage, excavating work related to landscaping, water line replacement, etc.
They have the power to either do it manually by hand and/or with smaller sorts of power excavating equipment. Very resourceful. And when they leave, you will hardly know they’ve even been there…they clean up so very nicely…in the true Golden Hammer way.
A little interesting history: Vesko came to this country a number of years ago from Communist controlled Bulgaria. He came alone at first, not speaking any English (but 6 other languages!), brought his wife and family 2 years later and moved from New York out here to Portland. He has since sponsored a number of highly educated and extremely interesting persons from the former eastern block communist countries. What a hard working and sincere group of persons they are. No complainers in this group. They are so very thankful to have an opportunity to be able to put in the hard work and then reap the rewards of their labor.
If you have a situation in which a machine is not suited to the work, due to restriction of space or the damage it may cause to landscaping, then these folks can handle it. Be prepared for an interesting and enjoyable interface; great stories and comparisons of life here, as opposed to someplace most of us can not even imagine. A life enriching experience…and of course you get the work done, too.
JOEL HAMBERG PAINTING
503-284-3167 - office
joel@joelhambergpainting.com
We have one and only one recommendation here. Joel has done our painting ever since he established his own company in 1984. He's actually been painting since 1976. We had became very familiar with Joel's work by utilizing the services of the painting contractor he worked for prior to branching out on his own. Needless to say we followed him. His crews are the hardest working and neatest painters you could find anywhere. Unlike many painting contractors, they will show up early everyday, work all day and actually get the job done. And so professional. I've told our clients for years that once they experience these guys, they'll never call or even think about calling anyone else… and it has turned out to be just the case.
In recent years Joel has determined to put the company at the forefront of environmentally friendly procedures; utilizing all the latest and safest materials available. He has formed alliances with the large paint manufacturers, worked with their R&D departments, volunteered on national boards to promote this cutting edge thinking and passed it along to his employees. They have also become, what we feel are the premier coatings experts for both exterior applications, as well as interior wood finishes. Their work in the Old Spaghetti Factory on the Willamette River won them national awards and the acclaim of both the owners and Sherwin Williams, whose products they used in refinishing every piece of wood in the restaurant. All the while, allowing the restaurant, to continue in operation each & every day
Exterior, interior, paint or stain & finish…they can handle it all; and so very well.
Dave Kuran
503-297-5070 - Home/Office
503-799-6500 - Cell
For your home or office needs. Just need another line run to another part of the house or a whole new system for either home or office? Got a bunch of noise in the line or other annoyance that's developed? Dave will get it handled and for a whole lot less than your local phone company.
Please, don't let the local phone company inside your house to wire. They will cost you WAY TOO MUCH and are always looking for the most expedient (not necessarily the best) way to run wire. We've found the most incredibly sloppy work done by these not so qualified folks.
Dave is very fussy and succeeds in avoiding the typical wire showing everywhere or just stapled to the side of the house. If fact, he'll more than likely clean up a lot of the residual mess left by others, in the course of his work. Your business needs will be met with the same degree of determination to get it done correctly with no call backs for something that doesn't work.

JAY-JAY'S PLUMBING
Ken Smith
503-667-8420 – office
503-492-3863 - fax
We've been associated with Jay-Jays Plumbing for 34+ years. Kens' father (John) was the very first plumbing contractor we ever worked with way back in the early 70's. John & now Ken understood what our standards of quality were and have worked very diligently to maintain those standards. Ken’s knowledge of what you will find in a building depending on where it is in town, is nothing short of amazing. His father was the same way. We seldom run into surprises on our projects when it comes to plumbing.
They can handle the drippy faucet, the outside hose bib that won't shut off, the major break, new toilet/sink, etc. We all know the jokes about what plumbers charge and granted it is a bit…but wouldn't it be nice to know that you were being dealt with honestly and not being taken advantage of for what you didn't know? They do gas line work for furnaces, water heaters, etc.
Water heater replacements as they have the time; or you can contact Stan The Hot Water Man listed below.
OREGON IRRIGATION
Ross Church
503-656-9826 – office
503-706-5085 – cell
For those of you who even know what the heck a Back-Flow Device, Double Check Valve or RP Device are, you know that the City or Water District in which you reside requires you to have these certified every year. You usually get a reminder notice in the mail. If you don’t get a notice and have one of these devices on your property, you still want to get it checked annually. It is most likely in place to make sure the potable water source you’re using is safe from contamination. This is a good thing.
Ross is licensed by the State to make these inspections, certifications and can put you on an annual service schedule to see that you are kept up to date and safe. He will make the inspection, file all the appropriate paperwork and send you copies and a report. Simply trouble free.
STAN THE HOT WATER MAN (WATER HEATERS ONLY)
760-2992 - office
645-2211 - office
Sounds like a silly name, but this is all they do. They repair and replace. Generally have all the parts in stock or on board and can get it handled rather quickly…because when you don't have hot water…well you know.
DAD'S CONSTRUCTION
David Dunning
503-730-4706 - cell
OK, listen up, this is a biggie. Please do not let anyone pressure wash your roof. It will take at least 5 years off the life of a wood roof each time it's done! We find this practice the equivalent of burning rubber at every stoplight and wondering why the tires seem to go bald so quick. STOP IT! This is NOT a good thing.
So, you need repairs, roof cleaning/treating or a complete re-roof, you give Dave a call. We call him Mr. Roof. Most conscientious and honest. Hard qualities to find in roofing contractors. Takes great pride in his work. Has worked for us 18 years plus. Never had a complaint, never had to call him back to redo anything and we don’t ever have to get up on a roof to check his work…you won’t either.
SAT LINK
DENNIS HUTCHINSON
503-661-0252 – office
503-936-4087 – cell
Dennis has been doing this satellite dish thing for longer than anyone we know. Seems these guys come and go like the wind. Dennis has been around since the earlier days of those huge 10 foot diameter dishes you saw out in people’s yards looming as if to bring the moon in (By the way, he still services them). He has grown with the industry, it’s technology and downsizing of equipment. He understands the hardware, the software, the receivers, the DVR aspect, upgrading from analog to digital, the whole HDTV go around, etc. He can explain it all to you in simple terms that will allow you to make an informed decision; he can install it all AND he will be sure it all works when he is done. You don’t need to call the dish companies or any of the myriad ‘here today and gone tomorrow’ folks who plague this particular industry. Just make one call…Just call Dennis.
Dennis also is experienced at Low Voltage wiring i.e. CATV, telephone wiring, hardwire networking within your home, etc. Add to that Video Surveillance and you really only need to make one call…Again just one call to Dennis.
SAVAGE SPRINKLER SERVICE
Paul & Linda Hoskins - owners
503-537-0582 – office
503-351-9159 – cell / Paul
Rock solid, dependable and reliable…words that would describe not many in this business. But those are the qualities you'll find embodied in Savage Sprinkler Service. Paul grew up working in this business for his uncle. When his uncle decided to retire he sold the business to Paul…that was many years ago and he’s still at it. You’ll love his down to earth approach and attitude.
Whole new system, repair, maintenance or re-work of your current system so that it works like it's supposed to work. Automation, timers…you name it…if it has to do with irrigation they'll have the answers.
CASCADE POOLS

503-620-2237
cascpool@gte.net
www.cascadepoolsandspas.com
Custom pools, spas, service, complete rebuild and maintenance. If you want it done right or taken care of properly you only need to make one call. Might be the oldest pool outfit around and if not, they're certainly close. However, the oldest or not, the quality of what you get for the exchange of your hard earned dollar is the best you can do in these parts. A pool is a large investment. It's almost like a living organism once it's completed. It needs to be planned correctly, built correctly and supported by the proper equipment. For years of trouble free operation, it also needs to be serviced both routinely and properly.
Background, knowledge and a 'can do' attitude makes Cascade Pools your only logical choice. Check out their website, talk to their clients, go look at some of the incredible things they've done and we're certain you'll be delighted to agree with us.

503-936-4087 – cell
Not only is Dennis the individual to call with regard to all your satellite dish needs as described above, but he has also developed an additional niche in the Low Voltage world. Good people to do telephone, CATV, computer network wiring, house system integration, etc. are difficult to find…and they don’t tend to stay in business. Dennis has built a long running and stable business enterprise by sticking to things that seem to relate to each other and then becoming accomplished in the execution of work related to those areas. Careful, methodical and reasonable.
Dennis is also quite experienced at the nuances of Video Surveillance and integrating that with your computer system for convenience of operation.
Below we have listed a few suppliers where you will find a nice variety of materials to select from and helpful staff. They will most likely ask who your contractor is. Even if you are just browsing for ideas, let them know that you are a client of ours (past, present or future) or if you are working directly with one of our recommended installation companies.

LIKE-NU-TILE
Ellery Tatz
503-691-9001
360-699-0606
Okay, so you work real diligently attempting to keep up with the cleaning on your tile shower…but, it seems to become more difficult and less effective. You are killing yourself with caustic cleaners and falling behind. Ellery to the rescue!
You won’t believe this process. Done with steam. Clean, quiet and works so well you will be truly amazed. The process not only cleans, but it eliminates (just plain kills) all the mold and bacteria so inherent in everyone’s shower. This is not a sloshy scrubbing of industrial strength chemicals that would force you to leave your house. No fuss, no mess.
They also can perform the grouting repairs, required caulking and sealing if desired. You’ll wonder why you didn’t have this done sooner. We have it done on a routine basis. So nice!
ABRAM & DAVIS WALLCOVERING
Jeff & Tim Davis
503-235-6105 - office
Again, we have one and only one recommendation for both the installation and removal of wallpaper. We've known/worked with Jeff and Tim for many years. And like Joel Hamberg Painting, you'll get premium service from persons well qualified and experienced. You will not be disappointed, nor will you ever think about calling anyone else once you've experienced these guys…and for gosh sakes, why would you want to be involved in removing wallpaper anyway? It's icky stuff.
ALWAYS PURE WATER TREATMENT SYSTEMS
Steve & Penny Gesdahl
503-668-9287 – office
503-668-4511 – fax
503-869-4648 – cell / Steve
The ultimate water treatment guru! Bar none. We’ve been around several ‘supposed to be’ outfits and they woefully inadequate…especially if you were to compare them to our good friend Steve Gesdahl. This man knows more about water, it’s makeup, it’s peculiarities and how to correctly clean it up to your liking than you’d probably care to hear about. Most knowledgeable person we’ve met on the subject and considered that by many others besides ourselves. His work is so tidy; executed so well. A real fuss budget, if you will.
Whether you just want to clean up your point of use tap water with an under the counter system, treat your whole house, have a problematic well situation or any number of other issues with water (large or small) Steve will methodically sort out a solution. He is also one of the best values we know about and the reason is simple: He likes things simple and trouble free. Too much overselling of the wrong equipment in this field of business. Steve will not oversell and waste your money. You will get the absolute best value available in water treatment. Trust that what he is telling you, is the truth, based on a lot of knowledge and many years of experience.

Phil or Scott Garstka
503-625-6669 – office
971-219-9624 – cell / Phil
971-219-9625 – cell / Scott
We know that few of our clients are serviced by their own private well water; but if you are, you well know the importance of the water source and the people who service you. The father/son team here at Phillips Pump is cut from the same sort of cloth as those fine people at Savage Sprinklers. Rock solid, dependable, reliable and reasonable. Great to work with; so knowledgeable. This is not a field filled with a multitude of persons. So it behooves the customer to choose wisely. Time tested and proven trustworthy, is the hallmark of this family operation.
ARROW DRILLING
John Stadeli
PO Box 489
Newberg, OR 97132
503-538-4422 – office
503-537-2618 – fax
503-849-7821 – cell / John
Quiet, reliable and steady as she goes…this would describe John. Very measured in his calculations and assessment of every situation. No pie-in-the-sky sales tactics or predictions. Soft spoken with a good logical sense about him and a down to earth outlook. Qualities you need in a well driller.
We’re not sure how far John would be willing to roam from his home base in Newberg, but if you’re in this area or can talk him into coming your way, you’ll get your money’s worth. He works closely with our friends from Phillips Pump and Always Pure Water Treatment Systems. Together as a team they will give you the best chance at securing a reliable source of good usable water.
TIM ALTIMUS WINDOW CLEANING
Tim Altimus
503-939-7722 – cell / Tim
window@doctor.com
We’ve known Tim for quite some time. Know a lot people who also have known Tim for quite some time. Everyone also seems to like him pretty well too. My wife and I have actually known his lovely wife Sandra for a much longer length of time (before Tim entered the picture, but that’s another story for another time J); and we dearly love her as one of the most wonderful people in our lives. So Tim gets extra points, in our minds, for just being married to her J
Tim takes care of our personal windows and those of many of our clients. We’ve been very pleased with his work and from the responses of our clients, they are too. Something else we really like about Tim is his complete trustworthiness. We have no reservations about his honesty and integrity. Important attributes when a person is going to be in every room of your home and at times when you may not be there. Just the right person for this service.
